Article: La vida en rosa
This article is about an event called "Pink Week" created by the american designer Gioia Fonda. Pink ins't really a color that I like, but what I liked from this article, is how can a designer can use a single color as an inpiration, and create a huge gamma of articles that express the feelings that these color tries to express

Classwork, April 12

-Business Intelligence: Refers to computer-based techniques used in spotting, digging-out, and analyzing business data, such as sales revenue by products or departments or associated costs and incomes. Industrial design may use this concept by using data bases for making decisions, for example a data base for the raw materials needed for certain items, and based on that, determine how much to buy.
-Enterprise resource planning: integrated computer-based system used to manage internal and external resources including tangible assets, financial resources, materials, and human resources. It is a software architecture whose purpose is to facilitate the flow of information between all business functions inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the connections to outside stakeholders.
In terms of ID, this can be used to connect the different departments, responsible for each of the stages of design.
-Knowledge management: a range of strategies and practices used in an organization to identify, create, represent, distribute, and enable adoption of insights and experiences.
This can be used by keeping records of the experiences that all the workers in the design process have.
-Customer relationship management: strategy for managing and nurturing a company’s interactions with clients and sales prospects. It involves using technology to organize, automate, and synchronize business processes—principally sales activities, but also those for marketing, customer service, and technical support.
This would be very because would make easier the information about clients that an enterprise has
-A data warehouse: repository of an organization's electronically stored data. Data warehouses are designed to facilitate reporting and analysis
This would keep all the data in order and with easy access.
-Electronic commerce: the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks.
I think this would be the most important concept and the most relevant for industrial design, because by using this, the chances of offering products everywhere in the world becomes really big

Electonics

-Electric charge: fundamental conserved property of some subatomic particles, which determines their electromagnetic interaction.
-Electronic circuit: composed of individual electronic components, such as resistors, transistors, capacitors, inductors, and diodes, connected by conductive wires or traces through which electrical current can flow
-Voltage: Electrical potential difference. Is the electrical driving force that would drive an electric current between those points. Specifically, voltage is equal to energy per unit charge.
-Power: Rate at which work is performed or energy is converted.
-Types of voltage sources:
AC: Electric current that reverses direction sinusoidally; "In the US most household current is AC at 60 cycles per second"
DC: Symbol for the decicoulomb, an SI unit of electric charge equal to 10 coulombs
-Protoboard: construction base for a one-of-a-kind electronic circuit, a prototype.
-Ohm’s Law: Electric current is directly proportional to voltage and inversely proportional to resistance; I = E/R

Architecture

I really don’t care on architecture; I’m only interested in design. But I think that is very important that some people dedicate their lives to this career, because they can be able to develop new construction methods by using all the new technology that is available in these days. By using this technology they can make construction kinder to the environment by using materials that don’t pollute, and by making “green-intelligent” buildings that will use natural resources for obtaining energy, like sun rays and wind force; they will also be able to use waste in an efficient manner to avoid pollution. Although I’m not interested in it, some branches of design are related to architecture for example interior design; they need to work together so that the space will be used efficiently and that furniture and other stuffs that the designer will make fit well and look nice inside the room.

Homework on desing

Design brief: Rescue the Mexican culture (represented in its typical costumes) and present its richness around the world
Analysis: What we are trying to do is to improve the popularity of Mexican typical costumes; this will be done by remaking then and transforming in more wearable gowns.
Research: This will be made by investigating the most famous typical costumes (Jalisco, Veracruz, Chiapas, Puebla, etc) their materials and who distribute them.
Specification: It is going to be necessary to investigate how the typical costumes are made so we can reconstruct them. It will be also necessary contact Mexican artisans and factories that create and distribute all the requirements: fabrics, embroiders, buttons, jewelry, rebozos, etc.
Problem solving conceptualizing & documentation: When all the information is gathered (simple designs and raw material) it is time to start sketching the dresses and when we have the final designs now we can start producing them.
Presentation: Once the dresses are made, it’s time to present them and start distributing them.

Mi magazine is called "Rediseño" in general i think the magazine is ok the way it is. The only thing i would change is the shape of the cover and the way the pages are cutted: I mean, each group of pages (that involves each section of the magazine) will be cutted in a different lengts, as showed in the diagram, each color refers to a section and its length

Sydney's Opera House:
Every time i see this architectonic designs in movies and in pictures i feel the smoothness of the curves that resemble the waves of the ocean, I can even "hear" an opera aria when I imagine myself in outside that building

The name of the article is "Luis Eslava" by Guillermo Arroyo. The article is mainly abaout Luis Eslava, a famous Spaniard designer. It talks about his biography, his studies and his work.
